In order to recover the family heirloom "Portrait of Adele No. 1" looted by the Nazis during World War II, a Jewish-American woman Maria (Helen Mirren) seeks help from a young lawyer, Randy (Ryan Reynolds). Randy is attracted by the extraordinary value and legendary experience of the famous painting and decides to accompany Maria to recover the famous painting. This is a just act, but they find that the Austrian authorities have resorted to various means to retain the national treasure painting regarded as the "Austrian Mona Lisa". While Maria fights unyieldingly against the government machine, she returns to her hometown in Vienna, and the painful memories buried for more than half a century once again surface in her mind...
