A huge rock in the Flower and Fruit Mountain of Aolai Country in Dongsheng Shenzhou gave birth to a bright and spiritual stone monkey (played by Liu Xiaolingtong). After worshipping Subhuti as his teacher, the stone monkey learned 72 transformations and possessed the ability to reach the sky. He then occupied the mountain and became the king, calling himself the Great Sage Equaling Heaven. The Jade Emperor sent Taibai Jinxing to the mortal world to recruit the Great Sage to the Heavenly Palace. Later, the Great Sage, because he felt that the official position bestowed by the Jade Emperor was too low, made a riot in the Heavenly Palace. After being trapped in the alchemy furnace by Taishang Laojun for 49 days, the Great Sage kicked over the alchemy furnace and refined into golden eyes. Seeing that the situation was out of control, the Tathagata Buddha suppressed the Great Sage under the Five Finger Mountain. In a blink of an eye, five hundred years passed, and Tang Monk was chosen by Guanyin Bodhisattva to go west to obtain scriptures and save all living beings. Under the guidance of Guanyin, the Great Sage worshipped Tang Monk as his teacher, and the master and apprentice embarked on the journey to obtain scriptures.
