After Wadiyar's arrest, Kumaresan's situation becomes even more difficult, and he soon has to make a choice: do his duty as a police officer, or stand up for justice alongside Wadiyar. Liberation was initially announced as a single-part film in April 2021, however, it was announced in September 2022 that the film will be released in two parts, with the latter part titled Liberation: Part 2.
